Pegasus: Spyware made by NSO

Pegasus spyware made by NSO Group is back on the rise after Facebook sued the Israeli company. What are the capabilities of the spyware?

Facebook in the lawsuit revealed a number of Pegasus abilities that can shake their heads because of their strength. They also revealed that at least 1,400 people were targeted in the attack by Pegasus.

The lawsuit comes after Facebook conducted an investigation with Citizen Lab, an independent monitoring group that first became aware of this exploitable WhatsApp security vulnerability.

Facebook said Pegasus had infiltrated through WhatsApp video call and phone call features. Once infiltrated, Pegasus can execute the code on the victim cellphone.

In his lawsuit, Pegasus is said to have spy abilities on three levels. These are data extraction, passive monitoring, and active data collection.

Pegasus is designed, in part, to intercept communications sent and received from devices, including communications via iMessage, Skype, Telegram, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and others, WhatsApp wrote in a statement.

This means that actually Pegasus not only infects WhatsApp, but also various other popular messaging applications. Not only that, Pegasus can infiltrate without a trace, with minimal battery consumption so as not to arouse suspicion.

(Pegasus) leaves no traces, consumes battery, memory and data usage is minimal, and has the option to delete itself which can be used at any time.
